We profile Timaya (stage name) in our list of Nigerian Influences page in Facebook this month. His full name is Enitimi Alfred Odom, born on August 15, 1977. Timaya is a successful and famous Nigerian musician, songwriter, performing artist and the founder of DM Records Limited. 

His music and videos are popular and widely played on Nigerian radio and television stations. Over the years, he has also gained international visibility and prominence with his musical talent. He has a large fan base among Nigerians especially the youth and he sees his music as a “struggle and quest for a change in life,” having grown up hustling for a living in the streets at the early age of 14. 


In one of his recent music projects he terms “Chulo Vibes” he features a collection his music which he says best defines him, his sound and brand. According to Timaya, his music is all about “good energy, love, positive living, being thankful always.” 

The “Chulo Vibes” has nine tracks, featuring fellow Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, Tanzanian act, Alikiba, and Machel Montano from Trinidad & Tobago.

In  October 2016, Timaya was appointed by Glo to feature as its brand ambassador because of his successful music career and inspiration of millions of Nigerian youths, especially those in the South-South part of the country, where he is popularly known as the ‘Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa.’

Timaya’s net worth is estimated to be over 9 million US dollars. He has a fleet of exotic cars and a mansion worth millions.
