President Bola Tinubu on July 12, 2024, appointed Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as the new managing director (MD) of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to replace former MD Mohammed Bello-Koko. Dantsoho holds “a Doctorate in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom, and a Master’s degree in International Transport from Cardiff University of Wales, United Kingdom”.

The new NPA’s leadership headed by Dr. Dantsoho according to the Tinubu administration is to deploy excellence in the discharge of their duties to enable efficient port services and improved industry outcomes.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has a "One-Stop-Shop (or OSS)" project designed to coordinate the provision of services from various agencies and stakeholders to ensure the availability of petroleum products and to implement government initiatives smoothly.

In line with the OSS location within the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the agency has begun implementing the new Nigerian federal government directive to coordinate service provision from all stakeholders for the smooth sale of crude oil in Naira to the Dangote refinery.

The composition of the OSS team consists of representatives of NPA, Dangote Group, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

In a statement attributed to Dr. Dantsoho in a recent OSS team meeting, the collaboration will provide “the efficiencies necessary to deliver on this national imperative of ensuring the availability of premium motor spirit (PMS) and other petroleum products.” Dr. Dantsoho further stated that the one-stop-shop is set up to coordinate service provision from all regulatory, security agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth implementation of this initiative.
