Muhammad Ali 'The Greatest' dead at 74

Muhammad Ali, an American boxing heavyweight legend and a phenomenal civil rights activist who stood his ground against the US government war in Vietnam by refusing to be enlisted, succumbed to a respiratory ailment and died today in a hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Born as Cassuis Marcellius Clay Jr, he publicly announced his conversion to Islam a day after his championship bout with Liston.  His conversion to Islam did not please his fans and the general public.  He was convicted and jailed for three years for evading the draft into the U.S. army. During the 1996 World Olympic Games, Muhammad Ali exhibited his strength and determination to the world and his fans in fighting the debilitating impact of Parkinson's syndrome that afflicted him.  His family was at his bed side during his demise.

The Greatest

The famous boxer who often referred to himself as 'The Greatest' had been suffering from Parkinson's disease since 1984. Tributes have been flooding social media and news outlets around the world from athletes, celebrities and politicians including U.S. President Obama.
